IT exists outside California

If you are asked to name the most IT-oriented state of the USA probably you'll name California thinking about Silicon Valley, And all the IT brands like Apple, Microsoft and HP. And maybe you will be right.

But what to do if someone lives not in California but let's say Florida and needs a piece of custom software development. Let's say he or she needs an iPhone apps development somewhere near Miami or Florida Magento website development. Fortunately living in not the top IT state doesn't mean that you'll face a problem to find a software development company. There are at least 2 great options to get your IT project live.

On the one hand, you may search Google entering for example " Florida software company". You'll be surprised how many different search results there would be there. You have the opportunity to choose from the list of small companies specializing on specific technologies like mobile applications development for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, custom programming for eCommerce shops, Real Estate sites, corporate sites, and so on. Or you may find a dedicated team of software developers who will work for you on a time & material basis. In this case you need to be a project manager and business analyst for them. Or you may choose a big company with a wide range of different IT services including not just software development but also maintenance and promotion. On the other hand, there always is another variant. Nowadays the whole world is like one economy. So, you may choose a software development company from any country and outsource your software development project to India or Philippines, Romania or Belarus, Mexico or Brazil. And if you decide to use this variant the list of your choices will increase by a thousand or even more.

As for me I prefer to hire the company from my city or at list from my state. This helps to avoid cultural and time-zone differences, so as problems with language communication. Unfortunately, the opportunity cost of my choice is higher cost of programming in comparison with an outsourcing my project. So, this is a trade-off.
