GLIMPSE OF A FASHION WEEK

Such fashion industry event as fashion week is a great promotion opportunity for fashion designers and fashion houses. Setting the latest trends such events are held throughout the world, but certainly the most notable are the ones held in the centers of world fashion – New York, Paris, Milan and London.

The goal of fashion week is not just to demonstrate what is in fashion, but to prepare the audience for the approaching trend. Therefore fashion weeks are held in advance every six months and buyers with mass media are given information on fashion in the coming season. New York is always the first in the schedule with London following it and Milan, while Paris completes the list.

The fashion week in London this year was the tribute to the recently deceased fashion designer McQueen. One of the most spectacular shows was arranged by Burberry with the help of digital innovation effects. The show was streamed live on the Internet.

There is a trend of bigger popularity of such shows all over the world with extended reflection in mass media. Microblogging seems to be very popular in fashion and there is no need any longer to wait for some reports concerning fashion events from central channels. Any person is able to make it. This new trend was especially strong in the context of current fashion week in New York.

Real time media were able to give a review of everything happening on the catwalk and anywhere else. About 50% of all those who came to Fashion week used Twitter and discussed all events online. The coverage of the events in 53 % of the cases was via unofficial sources, such as blogs. The news were published and republished, pictures were sent and linked. All this had a great impact upon the event. It is also noted that many non-professional reviews are rather interesting and not worse than reviews of professional fashion experts.
